Philosophy
When we think of our future, we think it starts with love self love, love for people around us, and love for the differences that make each one of us unique. It’s this truth that ignites our passion to create change with our most important facet of our community - our children. Its the year 2020. Children have more screens and less interaction than ever before. They are feeling ever so disconnected in a world that is seemingly so connected. They are struggling to communicate with eachother in this world that values texting over in person conversations. Our children have lost the ability to feel. and connect with eachother and their community.
At Ignite, we are igniting the passion to be truly connected again. We made our programming with intention. Our programming encompasses the touchstones of Gratitude, Empathy, Communication, Active Listening, Diversity, Inclusion & Community Change. There is not a moment of our curriculum that does not have meaning behind it.
More importantly, we wanted kids to have fun while learning these vital soft skills.
We want kids to be seen and heard first and foremost. With this attention, they may find their inner confidence and embolden their unique spirit. We want to amplify the importance of the art of noticing eachother again - but in the positives, instead of the negatives that social media can create.
A day at Ignite varies from week to week. Each week focuses on one of our touchstones, but always incorporates learning lessons from all of them. In our camps, we spend the mornings in workshops doing fun activities and games that are meant to create introspection and discourse. Children will be encouraged to learn a new side of themselves and will be positively reinforced for their ability to engage. The afternoons are comprised of field trips and outdoor activities. From scavenger hunts, hip hop creations, music workshops, podcast creations, interviews with local leaders, to art projects and appreciation journaling, scratch programming and animation labs, we do it all.
Our program leaders go through extensive training on child development and behavior management strategies and undergo background checks.
Being a member of the Ignite community allows you the opportunity to be a part of numerous FREE activities throughout the year as well. This is about community and movement building to be more compassionate human beings.
