Camp Empathy

A camp to ignite the empathic spirit of your child.

Week of August 24 - August 28

Empathy is defined as being able to understand others’ feelings. Kids these days are not able to have the social connections that preceded a time where technology was so prevalent. We want to help rectify that situation by focusing in on what connects us. Studies show that chlidren with higher levels of empathy can perform better in school, have more engagement in the classroom, improve communication skills and increase social behavior. Children can increase their emotional literacy by recognizing the feelings of others and this can even cause them to score higher academically and be more resilient. Throughout the week, we will learn about ways other people from around the world live and creating dioramas of different bedrooms of children around the world. We will do a choose your adventure life choice game where you work in pairs to live in the life of another person and discuss how we can be kinder to our peers. We will also play a variety of games and create skits where we roleplay bullying situations and intervention techniques. Kids can even work to earn raffle tickets throughout the week for our Camper Only Summer Grand Prize Giveaway! This giveaway is to help encourage our campers to continue to do random acts of kindness for their communities and families/friends! Raffle tickets will be chosen September 1st for gift cards and other fun things like video consoles and more!

As a reminder, all camps have a choose your own adventure style feel. Campers can choose what projects they like based on their loves! In the afternoons, campers get to choose from a choice of stations that include arts, scratch computer programming, STEM/Science Projects, and culinary exploration or music stations. We will also do weekly excursions as listed below! All of our campers can win raffle tickets for a grand prize drawing we’ll have at the end of the summer.

Why choose Ignite Camps?
Communication. Community. Character Building.

Our intention. Unlike other local camps, our first and foremost goal is to create a camp that helps children become their best selves. We still do the fun stuff all the other camps do but everything from activities, projects, and games model positivity, empathy, gratitude and connection. We do daily gratitude journaling everyday to help reinforce the practice of appreciation. We want to prove that young kids can do BIG things!

Community Connection. We’ve created a program that highlights connection to our local Madison community. We want to raise awareness on ways that our children can be involved and garner excitement towards helping those in need.

Our programs. Not any aspect of our camp time is fillers. We spend hours consulting with experts in child development, empathy and gratitude growth mindset exploration.

Our counselors. Our camp counselors are chosen for their love of children. We hand pick and curate our staff and we keep our counselor to camper ratios at 1:10. Staff is chosen for their pursuit of excellence in working wiht children.

The Ignite Family. Once you become a part of Ignite, you become a cherished member of our community. Our Summer Camp kids are invited to FREE events throughout the year at Groove Madison. These events are meant to help support the knowledge they acquire at camp. The spirit of community will continue year round and these are only open to camp registrants.

Want to keep the learning going all year round? We offer an afterschool program to do just that!
